Daiichi Hook Model 2174

This bent shank design originated in England where such hooks are used as bait hooks. Some fly tyers like the proportions of the short shank and wide gape. The bent shank and line of pull creates a very positive outpoint angle resulting in easy hook ups. This makes them very useful for egg patterns. Many egg hooks are down eyed hooks which negates the effective gape and interferes with hooking ability.

The hooks are made of the finest high-carbon steel, which is hardened and tempered to an exacting formula that makes for a long point life and a very strong hook. Daiichi hooks use a 12-degree constant taper ground needle point. This eliminates irregularities in shape, assuring no weak spots, and gives amazing speed of penetration.
